19. Hens or Parrots?
In the most sheltered area of the estate, where the sun hits first thing in the morning, you’ll find my precious hens-home painted in blue and gold, that encloses an olive tree that now serves as a recreational perch for my hens. I choose funny and mystical animals: ornamental hens that lay golden eggs, that populate many people’s dreams— this why I had to make sure they were protected by ferocious warriors. Each one of the four chicks belongs to a different ornamental breed, and they all happily live in their fancy home.
The Vision
I spent the first part of my childhood in the countryside with bunnies, hens and little pigs. I had to patiently wait until I was old enough to horse back-ride with my brother and my grandpa. After I grew up, the city life implanted in me the desire to go back to those joyful memories with my beloved animals. This is why I sometimes let the chicks roam freely in the garden, so I can enjoy watching them snoop around bushes and roses— their presence always brings cheerfulness. I arranged some benches around the hens-home so that people can sit down and enjoy the view and relax. It really works: seeing is believing. I also found out that the most assiduous visitors of the four chicks are my cats… I wonder why…
